42 LCD Wall Mount

One of the best things about your new 42 inch LCD is the versatility of how to place the new HDTV in your room! So why not mount it on a wall. LCD televisions are much lighter and thinner than the old cathod ray tube tvs we all grew up with.  Why not take advantage of the wide viewing angles of you 42 inch LCD television.  The main question becomes what type of wall mount do you what to use.  There is the basic flat mount, the tilting wall mount and the articulating wall mount.

I believe the best choice is the articulating wall mount for you 42 inch LCD.  It will give you the most versatility in viewing angles and is actually the simplest to mount!  Since the part that mount to the wall is smaller than the other types of brackets, the main requirement is to find a stud to screw in to.  Other than that, it is pretty stright forward.  The reminder I would give is to consider how the cables and such will be placed for the clean look.  There are casings for the cables to keep a clean look avalable for your 42 LCD wall mount.

TIP: You will find much better prices of the HDMI cables you will need online.  Brick and mortar stores really mark them up!

Flat wall mounts are the most inexpensive brackets.  They obviously just allow the 42 inch lcd tv to mount flat to the wall.  You would think they would be easy to install, but actually small hand are advantagous due to the tight spacing of the screws.  That was kind of an eye operner for me!  Anyways, you spent good money on your 42 LCD, so why not mount it in the manner which you truly want.

Tilting wall mounts allow for the 42 inch LCD to be angle at about 15 degrees downward.  This may be all you need for some rooms.  They can be most useful when mounting above a fireplace for example.  The ease of intallation is moderate as is the cost. 

One final note would be to check and match the VESA code to your 42 inch LCD.  VESA code is just an industry standard having to do with the spacing of the screw holes in the back of the LCD television.  For a 42 inch LCD, it is most likely a VESA 200 scale.  There should be documentation with the tv.  IF you are ordering the 42 inch LCD tv and the mounting bracket at the same time be careful to check for compatabilty.  Additionally, I would reccommend buying the necessary HDMI cable online.  The prices are much better than the brick and mortar stores which really mark the cables and brackets up!
